Galaxy S Vibrant on GINGERBREAD 2.3.3

I decided to apply the stock ROM (official release) for I9000 on my Vibrant (with camera) to take advantage of the 3G Video call. I tried using ROM Manager and it actually bricked the phone.

And then, I saw this instructions on how to apply the ROM using ODIN v1.7

GINGERBREAD 2.3.3 Upgrade Instructions

Here's the video instruction on how to use ODIN v1.7

Note: Please don't follow the video entirely as it's meant to restore the phone to its original ECLAIR 2.1. Use the video to set the ODIN connection and use the GINGERBREAD 2.3.3 instructions above to flash GINGERBREAD into your phone.

Good luck !

Tips in migrating data between android phones

Just sharing my experience in moving critical data (at least to me) from Vibrant Galaxy S to another Vibrant Galaxy S (with camera). This tips are applicable to all Android phones as well.

1. Contacts

If you are like me, I have all my contacts backed-up in my gmail. So, a simple sync would do the job.

2. Pictures and Videos

Just copy all the files in DCIM folder in the Phone internal memory from 1 phone to another - quick and easy !

3. SMS

I choose SMS Backup and Restore from Ritesh Sahu because this is the only awesome app that does not screw up my 8800+ SMS'es chronological order. I have tried using other apps and they just mix up them up.

4. Call Logs history

I choose Call Logs and Restore from Ritesh Sahu because it simply works !

How to root Galaxy S (FROYO 2.2)

This method is tested on my Galaxy S Vibrant series and from what I learned after going through forum postings and etc, this is good for other droids as well.

You will need to download this tool called SuperOneClick and install in on your PC.

Screen shot is below;

And you can download it ---> here

Have fun !
